How can the GOP say they care about the country when they won't even authorize money to repair one of our finest, iconic structural landmarks? The Capital Dome is in need of repair, but GOP controlled House won't pass appropriations to fix it. How much to fix the exterior of the Capital Dome? $61 million, and while this may seem like a lot of money, it is less than .009% than what the House authorized for the Defense Department last year. No not a tenth of a percent, but less than a hundredth of a percent of the DOD budget. Is that 1 new jet for the Air Force or 2? Or is it just a part of one? I don't even want to guess if it would be the same as the cost of 1 smart bomb, but my guess is that the cost of the Dome can't be more than a couple of bombs. But yet the GOP House won't take money from DOD to repair an iconic symbol of our country? Are defense contractors really more important than the country to you, GOP? You don't have to answer that, I already know the answer. But tell me again why I should vote for anyone in a party that doesn't care about the country?
