The GOP has found a sure-fire cure for bad economic news: Let's get rid of the survey, and we won't hear about the bad news.As asinine as that sounds, that's exactly what some GOP Congressmen want to do.
The US Census Bureau, along with getting the census every 10 years, also is in charge of compiling the data that gets the monthly data that shows the country how the economy is doing. So mow, some GOP Congressmen have decided to sponsor a bill that would make the 10 year census information the only data that the Census Bureau could compile. Now, of course, whatever economic information that is going on in the country wouldn't change, but there would be no way to track it. And since there would be no way to track it, there would be no way to fix it. No weekly, monthly, quarterly, or yearly reports to make decisions on, whether the news would be good or bad.
Several GOP Congressmen are tired of hearing bad economic news, so they are sponsoring a bill that would eliminate the gathering of the data. To me, that sounds like making illegal things legal. Neither would stop the problems, but in both ways, we wouldn't know we even had problems that needed to be fixed.
