Being from Kansas City, and being my age, although I love the Chiefs, the Royals will always have a special place in my heart. And for those of you that aren't watching, and after the last 15 years I know it's hard to, get ready for great news if you're a Royals fan. And if you root for another AL team, look out for them. None of their 8 position players are older than 27, and their bullpen is even younger. The original plan for Dayton Moore was to get the team ready to be exciting in 2012, and good enough to contend in 2013 and beyond. The team is a year ahead of schedule. Next year, with any pitching, this team will contend for years to come. Don't think that will happen? They brought up 12 players this year, and they are all contributing, led by Eric Hosmer. Never heard of him? Cleveland thinks so highly that they intentionally walked him in the first inning of a game. He is 1 of 4 position players, 1 starting pitcher, and 5 relief pitchers that are on the team right now that are rookies. So these players are locked in for 5 to 7 years. Bringing that many up in one year must drain the minor leagues, right? Both the AAA and AA teams are in the playoffs. They can't even look at even younger pitchers and outfielders since their farm teams are in the playoffs. The Royals future is very bright. Now, if we can just keep the Chiefs players healthy-- and in Charles' situation, signed, sports in KC may look great for the next few years.
