The President's Speech
After listening to the speech, I started to write out my thoughts, and a person that I know on face book said: " What a F off he is. That un-American, nigger, ass-- I'll never respect him." I had to send her a message saying that I could never accept the n-word, and that all Americans should have have respect for the office, even if they disagree with the man. I said that if she kept using that word and those thoughts, I would have to defriend her. She said fine, and so I did. What did he say that was so wrong? We need to update our airports and transportation? We need to keep our schools in good repair? We need more teachers so our children can get a quality education? We need to change the tax codes so everyone is paying a fair share? We need to have other countries open up their borders so our goods can flow freely? Or was it that there was a black man that as President gave a great speech, with the right tone and inspiration? Is this what the Tea Party is really mad at? My original thought was that although the tone was different, neither the speech tonight nor the debate last night had specific things that were mentioned. Yes, the President looked forward, where the Tea Party simply said they didn't like what President Obama did and would repeal all his initiatives, but neither nights said : I want X amount of $s to fix this road, or this building. The devil will be details of how to pay for the jobs the President has outlined. But the President isn't the devil, an un-American anything. The people who treat others with such hatred and disdain because of their skin color, sexual orientation, or religion isn't the devil, either. But they do sit right next to him, while pretending they are with God. And all Tea Party members aren't that way, are they? If not, it sure seems that way.
